Display Compatibility Notes
* Display count, resolution, refresh rate, and color depth depend on the host, GPU, operating system, display, cable, connection method, and DSC support.
* DisplayPort and HDMI share the same video output and cannot be used simultaneously. The HDMI port supports up to 4K at 60Hz on Macbook. For higher resolutions or refresh rates, use DisplayPort or a downstream Thunderbolt 5 port.
¹ High Refresh Rates
Refresh rates above 60Hz may require DSC support from both the host GPU and the display. Color depth may be reduced at higher resolutions or refresh rates due to bandwidth limitations.
² Certain Mac Configurations
Although sufficient bandwidth may be available, the configurations marked ² are not explicitly documented by Apple for use through a single Thunderbolt dock. Compatibility may vary depending on the display’s DSC implementation and macOS version. Provided for reference only.
³ Dual Displays
Dual 5K setups require Thunderbolt 4 displays or Apple Studio Displays. Dual LG UltraFine 5K is supported only on M5 Max because each display uses two DisplayPort streams. For 6K, use a Thunderbolt 4 display or Apple Pro Display XDR. The 6K/8K configurations shown require DSC support from both the host and display. Connect Apple Studio Display and Pro Display XDR through downstream Thunderbolt ports.
⁴ Base M3 MacBooks
Base-model M3 MacBook Pro support two external displays only when the built-in display is closed and a compatible macOS version is installed. Base M4 and M5 models support two external displays with the built-in display active.
⁵ Windows PCs
Display support on Windows PCs varies by GPU, computer manufacturer implementation, BIOS or firmware, graphics driver, and Thunderbolt display-stream allocation. Confirm the computer manufacturer’s display specifications.
⁶ Four-Display Configurations
The PexarBolt Ultra TBT5 Dock supports up to three direct display connections: two downstream Thunderbolt 5 ports plus either DisplayPort or HDMI. A fourth display requires Thunderbolt daisy-chaining from a compatible display. Four-display output requires an M5 Max or a compatible Windows Thunderbolt 5 host with a GPU capable of four display streams. The host and displays must support the required DSC modes, and all cables must support the required bandwidth.
General Product Notes
* All stated data rates are maximum interface rates. Actual performance depends on the host, connected devices, cables, workload, and system configuration.
* Unless otherwise stated, computers, displays, SSDs, memory cards, adapters, and other accessories shown are not included and must be purchased separately.
* Screen images are simulated for illustration. The actual interface may vary by software version.
